Street Spirit
I had a beer last night at Dronning Louises Bro before the day completely faded away, and it was to cold to sit outside. But it was so lovely. Soon we'll be able to sit out all night!

They're heeere.
This looks like a spaceship. I don't think that it really is...
It's right next Danish National Radio, and I have a hunch that it's featured in a kids show.
Well, what do I know, I don't have a television.
Yesterday I took a day of from work, because I needed some r'n'r'. But then I had a deadline that bothered me, so my alarm went off at 3.30 am, so I could make my deadline at 10 am. Made it!
I was a bit tired, but still managed a lot during the day. Fun stuff as well. Amongst other things, I picked up my friend at above mentioned network, and we took a long walk. First to Islands Brygge, where we bought icecream and sat at the dockside. Then we walked into the city and did some shopping.
Later this week I'll show you my lovely purchases.
I saw a Hans Christian Andersen-manhole cover. Who'd wanna end up on one of those?
My friend Louise sniffing cherry blossoms at Islands Brygge and getting itchy pollen all over her face.
It was nice to have a long day in the sunshine, all to myself.

Ida

CPH:PIX
Last year at the CPH:PIX filmfestival I saw more than +20 movies!
I haven't seen a single one this year.
Hopefully I will catch one or two in this week... but I have to acknowledge the fact that it might not happen.
So I was just reminiscing the best movie - or maybe the most surprising and innovative - I saw last year.
'A Town Called Panic'.
The crazy french duo behind have made a short with the characters: 'The Cake'
I can't stop laughing. Allthough I barely speak any french, in my opinion you don't need to understand what they say. You're just brought right back to childhood and playing with your toys and all the crazy + amazing stuff that happened to them in the hands of small, greasy fingers and unlimited, uninhibited imagination.
Have any of you seen some (good/bad/whatever) movies at this years festival?
Love,
Ida

A little bit of luck on my wall
When I visited Louisiana some time ago, I brought home some clovers.
I finally got around to putting them on my wall. They fit right in with the wolves, the giant flower, the forest and the stars in my little corner of dreams.
It's nice to look up at them and imagine what sort of luck they will bring my way.

One song, three artists
One of my friends posted three videos some time ago on facebook. It was the same song: 'Wild is the Wind'. The question he asked was: "Which version is best?"
The original one by Johnny Mathis
Nina Simones version
Or my heroes version - the always breathtaking David Bowie
It's a trick question, of course - they're all equally amazing!

Workpotato
Easter is fast coming up, in T minus 10 minutes to be exact (5.p.m is the end of the workday in Denmark - generally speaking). Except - I don't have time for that. I'm working on an article, and I have a delayed videoproject as well.
Work is really fun though, I finished an article yesterday where I interviewed danish chef Kille Enna. She just released a cookbook about potatoes, and when I had to write picturecomments to the dishes we use in the magazine, one of my peers handed me 'The flavour Thesaurus'. It's such a funny book (and good-looking) for all food-afficionados out there. With urban foodlegends and recommendations and such. It made writing so much fun - and Kille herself is such a sweetheart and a maverick in the kitchen - why not use potatoes in pastries and other desserts? Among many others things.
If I find the time these next days, I'm dying to make her gnocchi or potatopancakes with cucumbersalad. Yum yum.
(Exhausted, but happy) Love,
Ida

The youth is starting to change
Are you starting to change?
I've had a song on my mind these last couple of days. I finally found a deacent video for it on vimeo, and I can't copy it to here! So you'll need to click on the link to see.
'The Youth' by MGMT.
The lyrics are sweet and hopefull... perfect for spring and sun.
This is a call of arms to live and love and sleep together
We could flood the streets with love or light or heat whatever
Lock the parents out, cut a rug, twist and shout
Wave your hands
Make it rain
For stars will rise again
The youth is starting to change
Are you starting to change?
Are you?
Together
In a couple of years
Tides have turned from booze to tears
And in spite of the weather
We could learn to make it together
The youth is starting to change
Are you starting to change?
Are you?
Together
I think the video is really cool, actually, and it reminds me of two movies.
First: Donnie Darko - I could choose the video of Sparkle Motion dancing, but instead, you get Tears For Fears and the cool beginning of the movie. It used to be one of my favorite movies - I had quite a crush on Jake Gyllenhaal for a while there. And Tears For Fears are awesome! So... here you go:
And second - kitchy children dancing?!? Yeah, you know it... Little Miss Sunshine - allthough that song is awfull, it's such a funny and sweet movie - Abigail Breslin, the little girl, is amazing - and the rest of the soundtrack is really great, featuring Sufjan Stevens and Devotchka.
This video is syncronised - fun galore!

7:26 a.m.
I was up early today. The city was extremely silent. A bit unnerving, as if everybody had disappeared from the face of the earth.
It was a beautiful, slightly misty morning.
I'm going to Svendborg, a very picturesque (so I'm told) place on Funen, for an interview... yes, it's the weekends, and I'm working. I'm glad easter is coming up - I plan to catch up on some sleep.

Control
I am a big fan of the photographer Anton Corbijn, and I remember how excited I was when I discovered that he was gonna direct a movie about Ian Curtis, the leadsinger of Joy Division - and a tragic figure.
The movie is from 2007, and I really recommend it. Visually and soundwise it's amazing. The actor playing Ian is really good, and he sings all the songs himself. Good job!
But if you want the real deal, this is their hauntingly beautiful teenangstridden song, Love Will Tear Us Apart.
Hope you have a good weekend ahead of you!

Ida

Latenight snack
The second-first strawberries I've eaten this year. What a great snack to dive into whilst reading blogs after a long, busy day.
Strawberries are my second favorite thing to eat - next after cherries. These are - of course and unfortunatly - not from Denmark, and they're a sad excuse for a strawberry.
But still, they echoe of those flavourful red bites that smell and taste of summer in Denmark.
Long nights that really never get dark, where you stay up late, talking, drinking, thinking, loving.
Of days spent at the beach, absorbing the blue sky and the ocean reflecting it.
Of thunder and the smell of rain on warm asphalt and running barefoot through the puddles.
I long for it...

Ida

The weekend...
...was warm and sunny - and I stayed indoors, working. But the balconydoors were open. I could hear the birds chirping. That's something.

I heart Beefy-mail
Oh yeah. When it comes to rad blogs, there's no escaping the beefysauce!
I got this nizzle envelope in the mail, stacked with sweet street team stickers. Copenhagen, watch out!
The blog is in danish, but I bet it's an even bigger laugh with google translate - check out the swaggin' hiphop-blog for a little bit of Beefysauce!
Love,
Ida
