German Böwie

"Niemand gibt uns eine Chance"
= no one gives us a chance....

I love David Bowie, as you might know, and there is something about the way he sings 'Heroes' in german. He sings it with complete lack of inhibition. It feels so intimate and heartfelt.

Grey thoughts

These pictures are from tuesday - what a nice sunset. Today is grey. I feel grey too. Was at a debut concert last night for a pianist. (Debutconcerts are when people finish their studies at the conservatory.) The debutante was an acquaintance of mine. I met him 7 years ago - he was really good then, but I was not completely out of his league.
I am now.
It made me sad about so many things in the past...
But oh, did he play with emotions! He had something to share.

And now is the present. So I will enjoy the beauty of the fall, the love from my friends and the joy I get from writing - and of course playing in SPEkTR. (That IS better than any classical music - so yay!)
Tonight I'm going to attend a seminar with Alfred Brendel - he is one of the biggest living stars in the classical piano-world, but he has retired from giving concerts, since he is 80 years old. His fingers can't keep up anymore. The title of the seminar is "The light and shade of interpretation". I'm sure it will inspire me - and probably make me a bit mellow as well. But I'm looking forward to it!

Life is something you really can't predict...

Tea for me

I drink a lot of coffee, but usually I drink even more tea.
For the first time ever, I'd used all tea in my kitchen - besides camomile tea, but I only drink that when I have a cold - other than that, the cans and bags were empty.

So I had to go to Perchs Tea Shop. Yay! A wonderful place that smells like rainbows, and where you always get a bonbon. I of course forgot to take a picture in there, but I "stole" one from their webpage.
This little shop has been the same since 1835!

I'm quite old-fashioned when it comes to tea. I like black tea with milk.
I tried 2 new ones today. (Oh, don't you just adore the little bags?)
A Poushkin tea, which is supposed to be Earl Grey-ish with lime. I just had a cup, and it was nice, but I'll go for regular Earl Grey next time, probably with some Jasmin.
Then I bought Bailey Cream tea. It smelled like butterscotch, and I'm going to make myself a cup right now and work on my interview with Sun Airway.

Hayao Miyazake

I have it on DVD - still, when my friend asked me if I wanted to see 'Princess Mononoke' with her in the cinema, I couldn't resist. I'm just in love with the beautiful movies that Hayao Miyazake makes!

Freebees!

I love free gifts.
I got the cool, new totebag with the deer, when I was filming a friend. She was giving a taste of the new opera she's appearing in at a theater-conference, and these beauties were lying around as a free treat. Yay.
I got the fruit yesterday at my new "office". The owner just came over - "for extra energy" he said. What a sweetheart. Can't wait to go there again.

My new "office"?

I've been complaining about that there hasn't been a cozy & good coffeehangout near my place. But that has changed now! Yay! Cafe Roast has opened just a minute away in a tiny basement, and it's such a nice place, with warm and attentive service. They even offered me free cake?! Which I didn't take, silly me, I was just so full after breaktfast.
Their coffee is deasent and fairly cheap, so this place is going to be a regular hangout. (Their internet-speed is super fast!) And there's so much sunlight - if the sun is shining of course.
I'm sitting in one of their comfy chairs writing this, and I don't intend to move for many hours.

Wolves are my friends

Wolves have been my favorite animal ever since I was a very little girl.
I've had two wonderful experiences in Canada, where my aunt and uncle lives. The times I've visited them, they've taken me to Algonquin Park. There parkrangers told us about the wolves in Canada, and afterwards guided all the listeners far into the gigantic park (it's 1/4 the size of Belgium!) In the middle of this enormous park, surrounded by huge trees, the pinescent spicing the warm nightair, the sparkling milkyway above and fireflies buzzing around at the edge of the wood, the parkrangers howled - and floating in from the distance, a wolfpack howled back! You could hear the pups yelping. It was magical both times. I get chills just thinking about it.
The wolves protect me. When I have on my bedlinnen, I don't have bad dreams.

Classic love

I love classical music. I used to play a lot of piano, applied for the conservatory and all, but was told, at the age of 21, that I was TOO old. That was a blow - but now I'm (mostly) happy about how life has turned out.
My one regret is that I will never-ever be able to play Rachmaninovs 3rd piano concerto, no matter how much I practice. It's magnificent - the masterpiece of russian romantic music. One of my favorite (living) pianist has just released a beautiful recording of it... you get a snippet in the video. Ladys and gentle gents, Leif Ove Andsnes playing the black-and-whites. Look at his hands! That's so effortlessly played. Wow.

Westend

In Copenhagen there's a street called Westend. It's kind of a secret street. But it's a wonderful street with beautiful houses that makes me think of Paris (allthough I've never been there). The gateway to this paradise is painted anew every month.
This month the street artist Don John has painted one of the walls. He's one of my favorite danish streetartists.
On a particular rainy day I found shelter there and took some pictures. I'll make sure to take some more photos on a sunnier day.

The popular kitchen

My kitchencorner's been really popular with you readers, so here's some more photos from my kitchen.
Of course I have the essential mug-du-jour-for-bloggers, the moomin-mugs. Can barely drink my coffee out of anything else.
The poster with 'Bohemian Girl' was left by the previous soul living in this appartment, an IT-dude - well, I like it, so I put it in the kitchen, because, naturally, I'm a bohemian girl, hehe.
The lady in the framed photograph is my 'mormor', my mom's mom - isn't she beautiful? She must have been around 19 when this was taken.
Now she is 95, but I still think she looks gorgeous.

Ida
